Toyota future Hybrid sports cars MR2 and Supra
In the next four years, Toyota plans to release two new hybrid sports car, which will be the successor models of MR2 and Supra.
Toyota MR2 sports car of new generation will be in 2013 and get a hybrid powerplant, which will use 1.5-liter gasoline engine. The ideological inspiration for the project to revive this model is the main test cars the Japanese company Hiromu Narus, who died on Thursday in Germany during the tests of a new modification Supercar Lexus LFA.
Note that the successor to the original MR2 was supposed to use the power plant with a gasoline-powered V6, but the market success of the sport coupe Honda CR-Z (it uses petrol engine volume 1.5 liters and 14 hp electric motor) has forced Toyota to revise their plans.
As previously reported, the new Toyota Supra will be done in the style of the concept car Toyota FT-HS, first presented in 2007. According to Autocar, the moment the development of this car is being simultaneously with the creation of the serial version of the coupe FT-86, which will replace the legendary hatchback AE86.
It is anticipated that the "Supra" the next generation will get front-engined, rear-wheel drive and a hybrid powerplant which combines a 3.5-liter V6 power of 292 horsepower, electric motors and batteries. Total capacity of power plant will be about 400 horsepower.
