NJ/NePa BRM Series race video - January

A short video showing some of the NJ/NePA BRM series race from last weekend at The Race Place in New Jersey.

First the new chassis for the Toyota. You can see brass inserts in the pan of the chassis. These are new laser cut brass weights that fit perfectly into the chassis between the reinforcing ribs. These will be sold by BRM to racers that would like to be able to weight the chassis as they see fit. You will be able to place the weights around the chassis in places you feel need weight, an innovative idea.Here you can see the wing of the Toyota. Why show the wing? Well the question was raised at my club asking how durable the wing on the Toyota will be since it's behind the back of the body and mounted very low on the chassis. Guys have been concerned that one good "WHACK" and the wing will be broken. Francesco of BRM (seen below) must have heard this question before. When I asked this, he picked up the Toyota by the wing... AND STARTED TO SHAKE THE WHOLE CAR HOLDING ONLY THE WING! It seems it will be quite durable!

Prizes from BRM for best BRM cars remodeled. Also Prizes from NINCO, Fly Car Model, MRRC and www.scaleracing.com for other classes.

This race will end with the top eight BRM Drivers racing off for a BRM Trophy Car and BRM medals for 1st, 2nd, 3rd.

Most of the racing will be IROC so no need to bring cars, there will be BRM Rental Cars for racers ($5.00 per race) so you can still try to get into the BRM Finals even if you do not own a BRM yet!

Everyone entering the BRM Challenge will receive a $30.00 rebate good toward the purchase of a BRM Porsche 001 through BRM 006.

Entry for this Event is $15.00 per day Thursday, Friday and Saturday. If you pre enter all three days it is $40.00 so you save $5.00. Also if you enter all three days BRM Car Rental is free ( another $5.00 saving )

To enter a BRM last chance Qualifier is $10.00 per attempt, this price is reduced to $5.00 if you pre enter all three days.

Payment at the door to me will count as a Pre Entry.

Model Contest is included in the Entry fee for Saturday or the pre Entry fee, if you only want to enter the Model Contest it is $5.00 to enter on the day.

BRM Challenge at Wyoming Valley Slot Car Association

The Wyoming Valley Slot Car Club and Warrior Run Loco Works had their BRM Challenge races on Sunday October 5th, 2008 with an outstanding turn out for this double event. It was again another beautiful Northeast Pa. day, especially for slot car racing!!! Our first event of the day was the BRM IROC (cars supplied by Alan Smith of Scaleracing LLC) and the fun supplied by 13 racers for the race. The line up was....

The race line up was set random into the computer and when the green flag waved we were off to another action packed race event. It was clear when you race these cars passing has to be clean and momentum must be kept up. Everyone racing these cars were in the mid 6 second lap times 6.6 to 6.8 til Sam Jr dropped a 6.5 lap time in yellow. JJ was not to be out done he matched Sam then cracked a high 6.4 second lap. These two guys were the ones to beat and Chuck was doing all he could to keep up. Scott K. was working his way up the field, and Mike and Tom 2 were battling it out all through the race.

New comers to our track Tony E. (seen smiling in the Dallas jersey in photo on right) and second event driver Clarence T
(both from NJ) were racing consistent with little practice on the raceway. Tom P was trying to negotiate thru traffic battling Dave K for position with Clem in the whole mix of things. After the first rotation thru it looked as if Sam Jr was going to take it all away from JJ and Chuck P. When the second half of the rotation started JJ was not about to slow down in any way and you could tell he wanted this win !! Sam JR was running his hardest and Chuck P was holding steady. It was the middle of the pack that was putting all the pressure on the top three from the first rotation and they all were racing to take the trophies . After 2 rotations thru all the laps were added and segments (and I mean segments) separated most of the field.

After a short break in the program it was time for the second event of the day which was our BRM open challenge to start up and the addition of Rob Holt showing up to support our racing program we were ready to start. Only 9 racers participated in this event. It was Sam Jr who started out super strong with the intention of winning it all but Tom P was not going to give anything up in this race. Tom2 was running a car (hired gun so to speak) and the NJ guys were fast and running much stronger in this race as well. Chuck P entered the race finally and he was here to win it. Clarence Taylor was showing some speed and wasn't about to give up at all , with Mike Grabko racing up from the mid pack to show he can drive too. Rob Holt was showing he can learn fast (never seeing the track before) running consistent times and lap counts. after running 5 minutes each lane the results are .........

BRM Challenge Race in Nanticoke Pa.

The Wyoming Valley Slot Car Association will have a BRM Challenge race on October 5th, 2008 and an open BRM race for those racers who own BRM cars. This race will give more seat time to some folks who have traveled to our club to get some BRM racing action.

The BRM open race will use the standard guidelines for rules, mostly cars have to be stock, out of the box with the exception of tire choice. The only tires that will be allowed will be the BRM shore tires whether they be shore 30's and 15's. All cars will use the standard motor and must use stock gearing, pinion gear and ring gear are the drivers choice. We will race 4 to 5 minute lane segments with the possibility of 2 rotations thru.
