Within the next several weeks six private racing commands will receive 12 sports cars GT3 power over 500 h.p.
Transfer of the first client car has taken place on Tuesday on March, 10th in building Audi Forum. The head of sports division Audi, doctor Wolfgang Ulrih has solemnly handed over keys from R8 LMS to the head of Italian division Audi Sport Emilio Radaelli.Together with participation of a factory command in series DTM and creation of sports prototypes our new client sports program should become the third major direction of work Audi Sport, — Wolfgang Ulrih explains. — 2009 becomes year of design workings out and tests of sports model R8 LMS, the primary goal of division — to save up the maximum experience of management by the given car. Thus we are glad, that we will manage to make it thanks to participation in competitions of commands with which we and fruitfully co-operate for a long time.In a season of 2009 commands Abt Sportsline, Argo Racing, ORECA, Phoenix Racing and Team Rosberg also focus attention on the new sports car GT3, developed AUDI AG. For a season 2010 division Audi Sport will begin transfer to clients of cars in the autumn of current year.
In total in an automobile sports season 2009 on start leave twelve R8 LMS which will take part more than in 40 competitions almost on 30 European racing lines. R8 LMS — the first racing car developed by division Audi Sport specially for use in the client program. Participation of a factory command on R8 LMS in official sports meets is not provided.
Bodies, including tubular skeletons, are made by the company quattro GmbH in specially equipped to shop on manufacture of cars for the client sports program. Engines V10 are delivered by factory Audi located in the city of Der.
