BMW B5 Bi-Turbo by Alpina Touring at Geneva

BMW tuner Alpina has brought the B5 Bi-Turbo Touring to the Geneva auto salon.

The B5 Bi-Turbo Touring is based on the BMW F10 5-Series 550i and has beaten the upcoming M5 to the punch in more ways than one.

Last summer, Alpina released the B5 Bi-Turbo sedan variant. Almost a year later, though still ahead of the M5, comes this touring/wagon bodystyle B5 featuring nearly identical specs as the sedan. The 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 gets its output dialed up a few notches to 507 PS (373 kW / 500 bhp) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque - exactly 100 PS (74 kW / 99 bhp) and 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) more than the series'. Gearbox is the ZF eight-speed SWITCH-TRONIC automatic.

In terms of performance the B5 Bi-Turbo Touring does the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in 4.8 seconds (4.7 for the sedan) and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph).

The extra power takes a small toll on fuel-economy which comes in at 10.9 liters/100 km (10.8 on the sedan).
