There are finalists in the competition for Best Economy Car
American Organization X-Prize Foundation the finalists in the competition Automotive X-Prize, the most economical car.
The purpose of this competition is to select the most promising, ready for series production vehicles that fuel up to 2350 liters per 100 km. First prize is impressive - 10 million dollars, and the winner will be named in September.
Participating in the competition cars are divided into two categories - mass and alternative.
The first group includes only vehicles with four wheels and at least four places with a full tank can travel at least 320 km.
The second group of cars are at least two places that may travel without charge at least 160 km. This category has no restrictions on design or number of wheels.
The group of mainstream cars to the finish line is only allowed pattern Very Light Car, presented by the company Edison2. Its engine works with gasoline and ethanol (E85).
In alternative machines in category "tandem" (two seats located one behind the other) has reached the final electric E-Tracer from the Swiss company X-Tracer.
In the group with two alternative car seats placed side by side, will attend the finals: electric Aptera 2e (the company Aptera), Wave II (the company Li-ion Motors), RaceAbout (company RaceAbout Association), TW4XP (company TW4XP) and Alias (company ZAP).

Competition Automotive X-Prize was launched in 2008, participated in a total of 136 models.
